About Reliability
Reliability is not an afterthought at Airbound — it is the foundation on which everything else is built. Every flight must perform exactly as expected, under every condition, with no room for weak links. Reliability is what transforms ambitious prototypes into trusted aircraft that can operate at scale, day after day.
The function spans across all domains — from structures and composites to electronics, controls, and software — ensuring that every system is designed, tested, and validated to withstand the harshest real-world conditions. It is where aircraft are pushed to their limits through lifecycle, stress, and environmental testing, with failures studied methodically until their root causes are understood and eliminated.
Reliability is also where rigor meets creativity. It is a place that demands discipline, a systems-level perspective, and an unwavering commitment to thoroughness.
About Your Role; Problems To Solve
- Own the reliability and durability roadmap across all systems — spanning structures, composites, electronics, and controls.
- Design and execute comprehensive lifecycle, stress, and environmental tests that simulate extreme real-world conditions, including vibration, temperature extremes, humidity, and long-duration use.
- Build test rigs, automation setups, and data pipelines to accelerate failure detection, root-cause analysis, and corrective action.
- Develop and implement reliability metrics, dashboards, and standards that guide design teams from prototype through production.
- Collaborate closely with R&D, manufacturing, and operations to ensure reliability insights feed directly into design choices, materials selection, and process improvements.
- Drive failure investigations with a systems-level mindset, ensuring no weak link escapes scrutiny.
- Mentor and lead a cross functional team of engineers, instilling a culture of thoroughness, discipline, and data-driven decision-making.
What We Are Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in reliability engineering within aerospace, automotive, robotics, or other complex hardware systems.
- Proven track record of designing and executing lifecycle, durability, and environmental tests.
- Strong knowledge of reliability methodologies such as FMEA, FTA, HALT/HASS, and reliability prediction models.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor engineers, and deliver system-level reliability improvements in high-performance hardware.
- Hands-on experience with test equipment, automation frameworks, and data analysis for reliability validation.
- Strong problem-solving skills rooted in a methodical, first-principles approach.
