About Operations at Airbound
Airbound operates a fleet of next‑generation delivery aircraft, and the Operations team ensures every flight runs seamlessly and cost-effectively. As an early‑stage aerial‑logistics company, we view Operations as a strategic pillar that drives growth and innovation.
The team wears many hats: overseeing launch‑site selection and setup, flight planning, fleet utilization, and client onboarding. We also monitor weather, collate flight data, and aggregate historical patterns to power predictive analytics, while establishing the SOPs that keep our network running safely. Beyond routine workflows, we work on big-ticket problems such as cost‑optimization and pricing strategy.
Operations is the glue that holds Airbound together. We work cross-functionally with engineering teams to translate growth ambitions into a detailed operations roadmap, which directly informs product design and engineering priorities.
We have a strong bias for execution that is heavily informed by data. Decisions are guided by metrics—not gut instinct. We form hypotheses through critical thinking, then validate (or disprove) them with rigorous analysis of flight logs, delivery times, and cost metrics.
We’re process-obsessed, relentlessly data‑driven, and biased toward rapid, efficient execution—always asking, How can we deliver better, faster, and cheaper?
Role Overview
We are hiring for a Strategy & Operations Manager to join our Ops team and work directly with the Head of Operations on high-impact projects. In many ways, this role will function as a Chief of Staff for Operations – driving strategic initiatives, improving operational efficiency, and coordinating cross-functional efforts as we scale. You will collaborate across teams to define the roadmap for operational requirements and ensure our delivery network scales smoothly. A key part of the role will be building detailed operational and financial models to project costs under various scenarios, which will inform how we price our delivery services. This role requires a highly analytical, execution-oriented individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is eager to solve complex challenges. The position is full-time, on-site (no remote work), based in Bengaluru, India, and offers substantial growth opportunities within the firm.
Key Responsibilities
- Data Analysis & Process Optimization: Dive into operational data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and opportunities for efficiency. Propose data-driven solutions to optimize routes, turnaround times, inventory management, and other operational processes as we expand.
- Financial Modeling & Cost Projection: Develop and maintain detailed Excel-based financial models to forecast operational costs (e.g. airframe life, motor/servo life, maintenance, battery/energy usage, manpower, fleet expansion) under various growth scenarios. Use these models to perform scenario analysis and guide decision-making on pricing and resource allocation.
- Pricing & Business Model Analysis: Analyze the outputs of operational models to help define how much we should charge clients for deliveries. Iteratively refine our pricing strategy based on cost projections, market benchmarks, and desired margins.
- Cross‑Functional Operations Planning: Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, and Software to translate growth ambitions into a detailed operations roadmap. Surface, articulate, and document clear Ops problem statements, constraints, and success metrics; socialize them with each team to inform design and engineering priorities.
- Project Management: Lead or coordinate special projects in the operations domain – for example, setting up new craft launch hubs, scaling into new geographic regions, or evaluating partnerships – ensuring timely execution and effective communication among stakeholders.
- Reporting & Communication: Prepare clear presentations and reports on operational plans, cost forecasts, and performance metrics for senior leadership and investors. Communicate insights and recommendations in a concise manner to drive strategic decision-making.
- Strategic Initiatives & Execution: Drive and support high-priority strategic projects that improve operational efficiency and business growth. This includes identifying process improvements, implementing best practices, and ensuring alignment with company goals across departments.
- Operational Excellence: Help review SOPs, safety protocols, and best practices for aerial delivery operations. Ensure that as we grow, our processes remain scalable, compliant with regulations, and continuously improved.
- Ad-hoc Support to Head of Ops: Act as a right-hand to the Head of Operations, handling ad-hoc analyses, research, or urgent tasks. This could range from evaluating new business opportunities to conducting competitive analysis or supporting fundraising materials from an operations standpoint.
